My family video: a beginner level project

This was one of the first video projects I made. My students are all beginner level, ALTE Breakthrough. The idea is very simple and can be done by any level. The objective  is to describe your family. Students learned vocabulary related to family relationships, age and occupations. They were asked to use simple structures such as "This is my…", He is my..". In the video they could use pictures or actual family members to introduce them to the viewer.

Describing machines and gadgets

In this project, students were asked to come up with and record a TV commercial. The lesson objective was describing machines and expressing frustration about machines. Students had to invent an electronic gadget based on current technology and talk about the advantages of their product, its uses and how it made life easier. They were encouraged to do sketches where “actors” would introduce the problems or frustrations related to technology.

The level corresponds to an adult ALTE 1 course. Our class book was Top Notch 1, by Joan Saslow and Allen Ascher, Pearson Longman, Unit 4: Coping with technology.

Crazy gadgets!!
No need for English teachers anymore!!

EFl Class: Teen projects

This horror story slideshow was made by two teenage students in Santiago, Chile. They are currently in an ALTE 1 level class. We’ve been using Creative 2 Split Edition, by Macmillan. The objective was to apply structures learned in class to a creative project using visuals, video or audio recordings.
